As I was hunting the past couple days I noticed something that seems obvious now that I think back, but never really thought about in detail. Ducks that are just flying by really seem to fly just outside your last duck decoy. I saw it happen numerous times again the past 2 days. Same thing for birds that were making passes on their way to what appeared to be a party in your decoys. For those that have been duck hunting for a while, it seems more often than not that pass was their final one, and not the one where they turn on a dime and dump into your decoys!
So what is my point? Make sure that your last duck decoy of your spread is within good range! I made a point of keeping my last decoy 25 yards away from my blind and it paid off this weekend with those ducks just passing by. I think if you watch on your upcoming trips to the duck blind you will notice the same.
